This three-bedroom apartment is one of the first of 85 branded residences available at The OWO Residences, a development in Britain’s Old War Office Building, which in its history has housed monarchs, hosted influential government events and even appeared as MI6 headquarters in some of the James Bond films.
The developers were intent on preserving the building’s historical significance and entry to this home was through a solid-oak door with bronze ironmongery, framed with original arched architectural detailing.
“The hallway showcases many of the building’s original features, including lofty ceiling heights and ornate mosaic stone flooring,” said Charlie Walsh, head of sales and marketing at The OWO Residences. The spacious living and dining area is already furnished with artwork and furniture from various periods, selected by British interior design studio Angel O’Donnell.

“A standout piece in this space is the banquet-sized dining table honed from a single slab of Rosso Luana marble,” Mr. Walsh said.
The designers selected individual pieces from different genres, periods and of different mediums, he added, and the home’s “collection includes two limited-edition Damien Hirsts and Chris Levine’s famous meditative portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, as well as a special commission by Colombian artist Dairo Vargas and a mix of mid-century abstracts by Sandra Blow and Terry Frost.”
British furniture-maker Smallbone designed the kitchen, installing hand-finished, oak-veneered cabinets with walnut interiors and antique brass detailing, Brazilian Taj Mahal stone worktops and Gaggenau appliances. It’s accessible from the main entrance hall and the reception room. There is also a discreet utility room behind paneled doors.
The principal bedroom has ample private dressing space leading to an en-suite bathroom with both an undermount bath and separate shower. Two additional bedrooms each have en-suite bathrooms. The study is located between the two guest bedrooms and overlooks the private residents’ garden.
“I particularly love the foyer of this residence, a soaring space crowned with two spectacular chandeliers, which sets the tone for the rest of the home,” Mr. Walsh said.
The apartment’s listing price includes the fixtures and fittings but not the artwork.
This 2,807-square-foot apartment has three bedrooms, three full bathrooms and one powder room.
“Residents of The OWO will have access to 30,000 square feet of amenities, which include a games room and a 16-seat cinema for screenings and a gym,” said Mr. Walsh. “There is also a landscaped residents’ garden designed by Marcus Barnett, multiple residents’ lounges, meeting and work spaces, a dedicated residential lobby and a guest VIP room as well as secure underground parking with number plate recognition system and valet service.”
The building will also house the UK’s first Raffles hotel, with 120 rooms and suites and 11 restaurants and bars. It will include an extensive wellness space and residents will have access to the 65-ft. hotel pool and a separate vitality pool. The OWO’s adjacent spa will be led by the wellness brand Guelain and movement and nutrition experts Pillar, who will be providing residents with personalized wellness offerings. On completion (scheduled for late 2022), the OWO will have nine destination restaurants and three bars, including three restaurants led by Michelin-starred chef Mauro Colagreco.
